Australia's involvement in ww2
In this essay I am going to talk about Australia’s involvement in World War 2. I am going to break this essay up into 3 points. I am going to talk about how Australia became involved in World War 2, where Australia fought and how many of their troops died, and why Australia got involved in the war.
Australia became involved in WWII because of our connection with England. When the War broke out in 1939 because Adolf Hitler invaded Poland. England declares war on Germany – and the Australian Prime Minister said…. ‘ Because England declared war on Germany – this means that Australia is at war with Germany too.
Australia troops headed out almost immediately. They went to the Mediterranean, Northern Africa and South-East Asia. Almost a million Australian men and women, served in the Second World War. They fought in campaigns against Germany and Italy in Europe, the Mediterranean and North Africa, as well as against Japan in South East Asia and other parts of the Pacific.
The casualties were many. The statistics are as follows - Over 27,000 Australians were killed and 23,000 wounded in actions during World War2. Many of them returned and were affected by the trauma that war brings. They were regarded as heroes by the population of Australia and many of them were awarded medals of honour.
In conclusion, I have been able to provide information about Australia becoming involved in World War 2, where they went to fight, and how many of them died. By doing so I have highlighted appropriate information that will allow the reader of this assignment a better understanding of Australia’s Involvement in World War 2.
